Supercharge your research with the power of LoopSeq single-molecule, long-read Microbiome sequencing

APPLICATIONS: Identify prokaryotic microbes (high and low biomass)

The vast majority of 16s sequencing kits on the market only target two variable regions, V3 and V4.  This combined with the fact that the majority of these kits use short read technology means a very high number of false positives in classifications.  With short reads full V1-V9 region data with phasing cannot be generated.

With LoopSeq 16S and LoopSeq 16S & 18S we combine the power of single molecule counting and long-reads to give you a kit and service with the lowest possible False Positive rate and the best species level classification.  Our long-read sequencing technology allows us to sequence the each 16S molecule, V1-V9 in a sample and phase each molecule.

In addition our single-molecule counting technology allows us to eliminate PCR bias and report molecules based on true abundance.  This means that even molecules in very low abundance are reported in our assay. They aren’t lost in the noise of the PCR bias and you therefore get all of the species that are truly in your sample reported.

See how we compare to other 16S kits:

Loop Genomics is proud to be the first company to bring you a multi solution kit that let's you run both regular and low biomass samples together in our 16S and 16S/18S microbial metagenomics kits. This added feature lets you study microbial communities where populations are low, such as in samples obtained from skin, water, air, and hard surfaces.  These kits provide all the benefits of LoopSeq technology from normal samples or limited samples where only 2-200 picograms of starting DNA in available.

Through long-reads, de novo molecule assembly, and consensus error correction, we've seen these kits deliver species level results from the hundreds of low biomass samples we've already processed in our service lab.

With this new kit you can now process routine samples along with challenging samples.

How it works:

Input microbiome DNA.

Every sample is exposed to millions of unique barcodes, but only one barcode attaches per DNA molecule.

Sample skin

Find out what microbes are present in healthy skin and see how they're perturbed in disease states with kits designed to maximize microbial DNA while avoiding human DNA.

Survey hard surfaces

Assesses and monitor pathogens that are living on hard surfaces in areas of concern such as hospitals, food preparation surfaces, and more. Our low biomass technology is already being used to study microbial communities on hospital surfaces in an effort from the Arkansas Children's Hospital Research Institute.

Analyze air

Airborne microbes are another cause for concern, but their low density can make metagenomics studies challenging. Both 16S and 16S/18S Low Biomass Kits are up for the task and are already in use in preliminary studies.

Test water

Whether you're monitoring water quality, looking at the environmental effects of runoff on marine life, or more, microbial communities can provide much-need data for scientific discovery and critical decision-making.

Every molecule, along with its unique barcode, is amplified using PCR.

For each molecule copy, the barcode is randomly distributed within the molecule.

Sequence the segment next to each barcode.

Short reads that share the same barcode are combined algorithmically into a full-length molecule using linked-read de novo assembly.
