Job description

At Loop Genomics we strive to build genomics tools that bring clarity to genetic data. Our technology platform integrates innovation in molecular biology with the design constrain of Illumina’s cost-effective short-read sequencers to bring researchers long read-lengths and ultra-low error rates.

We are looking for an outstanding team player to join our NGS sample prep team and report to the Director of Molecular Biology. The individual will provide next generation sequencing service to our customers that incorporates Loop Genomics's long read technology with Illumina's short read sequencing platforms. This includes applying the standard operating procedure during NGS library preparation, as well as custom solutions tailored to the specific sequencing projects. The individual will also assist in testing and improving the robustness of Loop Genomics’s library preparation kits. This role requires excellent laboratory liquid handling skills and consistent performance of various wet lab operations.

The ideal candidate is a dedicated and detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced work environment, has a solid background in molecular biology techniques, and shares our passion in bringing technology to change the current paradigm of DNA sequencing.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform sample quality control, modified NGS library preparation, and sequencing according to established protocols

  • Keep a detailed record and tracking the customer samples throughout the sample preparation and sequencing process

  • Work closely with team members to monitor the NGS library preparation procedures and apply protocol adjustments as needed

  • Work closely with team members to analyze sequencing data and deliver results to our customers in a timely manner

  • Support method troubleshooting efforts and resolve issues, ranging in complexity and scope

  • Perform reagent testing and reagent QA/QC according to established protocols

  • Prepare and set up kit shipment to domestic and international destinations

  • B.S./M.S. in one of the following disciplines -- Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, Biological Sciences, or equivalent subjects

  • 1-2 years of relevant molecular biology laboratory experience such single-channel pipetting, multi-channel pipetting, electrophoresis, DNA bead-based or column-based cleanup, and PCR

  • Relevant knowledge of DNA sequencing or other nucleic acid-based technologies

  • Good documentation skills and the ability to prioritize and multi-task are a must

  • Exhibit strong attention to detail in every aspect of work, including execution, documentation, and communication

  • Self-driven, strong ability to work independently as well as collaboratively

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
